To Whom It May Concern:

 

Help get computers to people who otherwise might never get access to a computer at home… so they can learn the basics: typing, text editing, and simple word processing.

 

People are needed to:
1.) help set up computers for use,
2.) train users in start-up, shutdown, and simple hard drive maintenance,
3.) deliver computers to homes when needed, and
4.) be available at a pick-up site as needed.

 

The computer is yours until it doesn’t work: do not throw it out! Give it back! I will gladly swap it for another working computer. I will 1.) fix it if possible, 2.) use it in a network without a hard drive, or 3.) use it for parts. The most common reason computers stop working is a hard drive problem. Usually, the cost of repairs is more than the computer is worth - except to me!

 

People who outgrow the computer they have or need a better computer should: 1.) let me know an upgrade is needed, and 2.) find someone to take the computer when the replacement arrives.

 

Sites are needed for five to ten (5 to 10) computers; the sites will serve for both computer set-up and training. The focus has been to provide computers to single parents and to those who are homebound.

 

Many people are searching for home keyboarding work for those who need a second job and struggle with child-care. If you can help with work, please do so.
